California Here We Come!

Well, Lance and I are headed to CA tomorrow! We're looking forward to this trip - not quite a vacation (I'm going for work and Lance is tagging along, very willingly!). We're flying into San Francisco then headed up to Napa. We'll also visit Fresno and Sacramento (all for meetings I will be doing) but we'll have plenty of time to do some looking around as well. I'll post some pictures when we get back...

So, I went to the doctor today for my 24 week checkup. The good news is that everything looks great - he read my sonogram between last time's checkup and this one and said everything looks right on target (even my due date - Aug 21st - is he sure it's not earlier than that?!?!!!) :)

I also mentioned to him that we have a history on both sides of the family of large babies...
My brother - over 9.5 lbs
Lance and his brothers - all over 9.5 lbs
My dad - over 10 lbs.

I asked if he ever induced early if he knew the baby was large like that. His answer? "No." WHAT?!? (now, granted, he had good explanations for why the answer was no - but I just couldn't quite get past it!) So, now's the time to start praying that this baby will want to come early! Nevertheless, I'm not a worrier and know that it will all happen the way it's supposed to...thank the Lord He's in charge and I'm not!

So that was my day - and a Monday nonetheless! (Oh, and apparently I've gained all the weight I was supposed to gain in the first trimester over the last 4 weeks...good grief!)

My heart is so sad today for a sweet little 7th grade girl who is in my small group at church. Her mother passed away late last night after a battle with Aplastic Anemia that just recently turned into Acute Leukemia. Please pray for her - her name is Morgan - and the rest of her family during this difficult time. I just cannot even imagine losing your mother at all - especially at such a pivotal age. Also pray for us to have wisdom in knowing how to minister to her and her family.

BOY! Can you believe it? So, my first thought was..."what in the world am I going to do with a boy?!" :) You should see the smile on Lance's face - it's priceless!

I gotta tell you though, that little one was bouncing around so much in my belly that the ultrasound technician had a hard time keeping up with him and getting all the measurements she needed. Like father like son, eh? PRAY for me - I can't handle two hyperactive "children". Just kidding - we're really excited! Now comes one of the hardest parts (I think) - picking out a name! You could really screw your kid up, you know? Any suggestions?

So, I went with my parents a week ago to Dallas (while Lance was in Mexico with our church) and bought some bedding. I was sticking with neutral so it could go either way - and I LOVE it! Nevertheless, we also finally made a decision on our furniture too and ordered it. Well, it came in yesterday and we couldn't wait to get it put together! This will definitely be a work in progress, but it'll be fun....enjoy!

Now, here's the funny thing...Tony, the "baby", seems to LOVE the mobile. You can see him staring at it - which he would have done for hours... I think he'll do just fine when the baby gets here. :)

So, we find out in 7 days (and counting...) if the little bambino is a boy or girl!! Can't wait! I'll update and let you know as soon as we find out! I can't believe I'm already 19 weeks - is it possible that this can go fast and slow all at the same time?!

So, all this talk about babies made me want to show you the baby we currently have at our house - Tony - our (1 year old) Boxer. He's the biggest baby of them all. All he has to do is look at you with those pitiful droopy eyes and you will let him lick and bark all day long!

Things will really change for him come August - but for now, we'll keep spoiling him. :)

Well, we're gearing up for baby-time! I know, we still have a while, but August 21st will come before we know it! I mean, aren't you wondering where January went - and we're already halfway through March?!! Geezzzz....

Lance is out this week in Mexico - so I'm using the "free time" to clean out the junk room (aka baby room). Hopefully we'll be able to decide on some bedding soon so I can get the room painted. We'll find out on March 31st the sex of the baby! CAN'T WAIT!!! It's going to be a long spring and summer! Hope it goes by quick!
